After graduating high school, she was awarded a full award to at the University of Toronto, where she pursued a masters in theatre and a double major in sociology and psychology. Contractor was offered the leading character in Pericles following a brief time at University. She was a part of the audition for the part in the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and was awarded. Her performance was lauded in the 92 plays that she performed in. She won the 2002 award for the best production of the Year from Canadian Critics. Contractor accepted the offer to attend Stratford's Conservatory program. There are only eight males and four females accepted for the 20-week course in the classical theatre. The actor's involvement in the upcoming season's production was confirmed. She received the role in Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
